CHERRY, BABY: Sydney Harnesses 2024's Sweetest Trend

CHERRY, BABY: Sydney Harnesses 2024's Sweetest Trend

Summer is coming in hot, baby, which means it's time to decide your aesthetic for the season — or, more importantly, color.

In case you were out of the loop this past winter, the fashion market was hit by a wave of bright, bold reds — From shoes to outerwear, every corner of the fashion market was infiltrated by fiery shades — prompting experts to declare the color 'dead' as we moved into spring. But not so fast. 'Cherry,' an ultra-sweet evolution of classic red, is now competing with buttery yellow for summer's must-have hue.

From red-and-white gingham sets to cola-inspired makeup, cherry red is essential to make an entrance this summer. As for how to master summer's sweetest trend, read on for resident stylista (and self-declared cherry fiend) Sydney Carlson's top tips.

Just-Kissed Lips

Lip liner girls, this is your time. For women who find bold red lips tough to integrate into everyday life, command attention with just-kissed lips. This can be achieved with a darker lip line and lighter lipstick or gloss, or you can dab a creamy red lipstick or tint and smudge for a natural-looking lip that leaves an impression.

Sweet Accents

If you have plans to entertain this summer, put a cherry on top of your home decor — literally. From brunch to happy hour, brighten up your fruit bowls or charcuterie boards with cherry accents. With a low glycaemic index score that may help manage your blood sugar, they're also especially easy on the tummy when you're ready to indulge.

Fit For Print

Nothing feels more picnic-ready than red-white print. For those who feel that solid red makes too much of a statement, red-white gingham or polka dots are the perfect way to get the best of both worlds. Just take it from Sydney.
